Bangladesh Army personnel detained five more persons for their alleged involvement in escalating violence, including vandalism of police and army vehicles, in Dhaka’s Mirpur district.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, they were detained last night (November 2) at Kachukhet and Mirpur-14 under Kafrul and Bhashantek police stations.

Those detained include Alamgir, Reshma Khatun, Mahfuz Mia, Aminul Islam and Kazi Russell. In its statement, ISPR said that these people were handed over to the relevant police stations.

Textile workers took to the streets in Mirpur-14 and Kachukhet areas of Dhaka last Thursday and clashed with police and military personnel, pelted stones and set fire to two army and police vehicles.

Law enforcement also fired multiple shots to disperse them, injuring two textile workers.
