Julian Black Antelope reveals missing chapter in ‘Secret History: Women Warriors’

Actor and producer Julian Black Antelope saw a missing chapter in the history books: the role of indigenous women.

“I wondered why they weren’t referenced more in mainstream academia,” Black Antelope told CTV News.

She filled her thirst for knowledge with the new APTN docu-drama series Secret History: Women Warriors.

“As one of the elders noted, for every brave explorer that came here and that we know by name, there was definitely a Native woman who kept them alive, educated them, and taught them how to survive,” Black Antelope says.

The actor from Alberta may be familiar to viewers from his role as a medical doctor on NCIS: Origins.

“I educate myself on a lot of medical terminology and things that I find interesting as a person. So it’s a great fit.”
