Babysitter charged with manslaughter months after toddler’s death

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) – The death investigation of a 2-year-old girl in Logan County has led to an indictment.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office said its findings required a detailed interview by the grand jury.

We first reported this story when it happened on July 10. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a child reported missing. The sheriff’s office responded to the scene within six minutes of the call, according to the press release.

After a comprehensive search in the area, the young girl was found unresponsive in a small puddle. Sheriff Stephen Stratton told WBKO the girl was found about six doors down from where she was seen on the neighborhood’s Ring doorbell camera.

On November 1, a Logan County Grand Jury indicted Lindsey Dover of Russellville on charges related to the incident.

Dover was the 2-year-old’s babysitter and reported him missing in July.

On Tuesday, Dover was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence.

According to court documents, Dover attempted to delete more than 1,200 text messages on his phone so officers could obtain a search warrant.

Dover was granted bail under conditions of bail that he could not care for or care for any child that was not his own; cannot use drugs or alcohol and must not follow any DCBS case plan or prevention plan.

He will appear in court again on December 5.
