Transcript: Liz Cheney Says Women Will “Save the Day in This Election”

Anecdotally, a close friend of mine had a coworker Who is the Puerto Rican who is registered to vote but has never voted in his life? He called me yesterday, a week ago, and said they needed mail ballot applications as soon as possible. So I took these to them at work because they didn’t have time to take them back. I took those applications back to the Board of Elections and we received ballots by mail. My friend texted me today and said: A Puerto Rican voter who had never voted before cried when he returned his mail-in ballot. These are the kinds of anecdotes I’ve seen, and this is definitely a big demographic problem for Donald Trump. We saw this weekend when the second gentleman was here, there were people in that room waving Puerto Rican flags. There were people waiting in the streets They were waiting to see him, holding Puerto Rican flags, American flags and Harris-Walz signs. So this is a big problem for him.

Sergeant: These little anecdotes say a lot about what’s really going on. Let’s look at the big picture. Poll averages show absolute anger in Pennsylvania right now. Democrats are still struggling to win back working-class whites, a disproportionately large constituency in Pennsylvania. To win the state, Harris needs to narrow those margins while gaining big numbers from the suburban counties around Philadelphia. But women are the key to both, right? Trump needs to win over some working-class women to limit his working-class margin; He gets along really well with working-class whites and pushes democratic boundaries among working-class people of color. It should also be a big hit among college-educated suburban women around Philadelphia. When you talk about this, it seems like the important thing is to bring together as many women as possible from all these different constituencies, right?

-Sexton: Women make their choice to vote for many reasons, but what I want to point out is that the Biden-Harris administration, and certainly the Harris-Walz campaign, is very focused on economic issues that affect working-class women. Labor issues impact labor unions incredibly strongly; incredibly strong on kitchen table matters; We’re talking about price gouging, increased home ownership, child care, prescription drug costs, medical costs. There are many economic reasons why voting for Kamala Harris is the best choice. That’s certainly part of… I can’t speak to the Philadelphia suburbs, but it’s certainly part of what we’re talking about with voters around here: the economy and prices. Definitely Bob Casey’s message Greed It’s a real hit in my part of Pennsylvania. People love it. They really trust Senator Casey on this one. This message also reaches its destination. So it’s not just about reproductive freedom and health care, but also economic problems and family care problems (care of elderly parents, care of children). So I think there’s a strong message emerging there.
