Also living right across the property is Miroslav Hajas.

He said children were playing on the lot and added: “I think it’s quite dangerous because nobody cares about this piece of land.”

Hajas, 45, said the green space would be “a thousand times” better than the houses but he would be happy to see the land brought back into use.

Ross-Shaw, the council’s executive member for regeneration, planning and transport, said: “As a local councilor for the area, I know this area has had a negative impact on nearby homes for many years.

“Despite our best efforts the owner cannot be identified so the use of a compulsory purchase order could put the site to valuable use, creating new homes and removing an eyesore for local residents.”
