Flood Submerged Jakarta’s Kemang District After Heavy Rains

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) noted: flood The Jalan Kemang Utara IX area in South Jakarta was flooded following heavy rain at 3pm on Saturday afternoon (November 2). The flood has raised the alert level of the Pesanggrahan water gate to level 3 or Caution.

“The flooded road is a 30-40 centimeter high section of Jalan Kemang Utara IX,” Jakarta BPBD chairman Isnawa Adji said in a written statement.

The areas inundated include Jalan Kemang Utara IX, Düren Tiga, Pancoran, South Jakarta, which has a height of 30 centimeters. Flood water also inundated Jalan Kemang Utara IX in Bangka with a height of 40 centimeters.

Currently, Jakarta BPBD has deployed personnel to monitor flood conditions in each area, Isnawa said. They also coordinate with the Department of Water Resources, the Department of Highways and the Fire and Rescue Department to pump out areas with standing water.

They also work with local parish chiefs and district heads to make sure the drainage system is working well. “The aim is for the flood to recede quickly,” Isnawa said.

Jakarta BPBD urges the public to be careful and alert to the possibility of flooding. In case of emergency, citizens can immediately reach the free phone line 112, which operates 24 hours a day.

Earlier, BMKG’s early warning weather map showed that moderate to heavy rain, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, was widely distributed in the Greater Jakarta region on Saturday. Only a small area in the northwest, north and northeast regions is not covered by the early warning.
