Pedestrian killed in traffic accident in Crossmaglen

A man has died following a road crash in County Armagh late on Friday, police said.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is appealing for witnesses following the death of a male pedestrian in Crossmaglen.

Officers were called shortly after 23:50 BST to reports of a man lying on Cullaville Road, which connects Crossmaglen to Cullaville.

Police arrived at the scene and found a seriously injured person on the road.

“CPR was started until ambulance personnel arrived but unfortunately the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The PSNI is appealing for anyone who was traveling on Cullaville Road at the time of the collision or who witnessed the crash to contact officers.

They also apply for in-car camera footage.

Cullaville Road has since reopened.

Newry, Morne and Down Slieve Gullion councilor Aoife Finnegan said it was “very sad news”.
