ST. PAUL, Minn. (KTTC) – You have to go back 52 years to find out the last time Minnesota voted ‘red’ in a general election.

In 1972, Republican Richard Nixon carried the Gopher State and received nearly 52% of the vote against Democrat George McGovern.

Since then, Minnesota has voted ‘blue’ in 12 consecutive general elections.

Here’s a breakdown of the results and voter turnout for the 2020 and 2016 elections, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State.
