LDS Church expands missions opportunities for single members 40 and older

SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles announced Friday an expansion of missionary roles for older LDS church members.

Effective Friday, single men ages 40 and over can qualify for full-time senior roles, while single women’s duties will now include visitor centers, historic sites, employment centers and more.

Single senior elders will not serve in an escort and will be separated into their individual areas of responsibility for six, twelve, eighteen, or twenty-three months.

Prospective members will be required to meet health and financial support requirements for full-time senior missionaries to serve 40 or more hours per week and live away from home.

Bishops can make recommendations using the Missionary Recommendation System; More information about expanded service opportunities for full-time missionaries can be found here. Here.
