Halloween is officially here. It’s time to wear your favorite costume and eat all the candies you can imagine.

Whether you love spooky season and want to watch all the scary movies this weekend or prefer a more subdued version of the holiday, there are plenty of events for you this week in Howard County.

From trick-or-treating to a sound bath, you can choose your spooky level for the week ending November 6.

Trick or Treat on Main Street

Thursday 16.00-18.00

Strut down the orange carpet on Old Ellicott City’s Main Street and collect all the candy you can for a free Halloween event. Be sure to dress up as your favorite movie character, superhero, ghost or goblin and enjoy the end of the spooky season.

Event free for everyone to join.

Halloween stories and costume parade

Thursday 10:15-11:00

Head to Savage with your kids dressed in their best Halloween costumes and hear spooky stories to celebrate this spooky day. After the stories are over, you can display your costume in the parade.

The free event will take place in the Albert Einstein Classroom in the Savage Branch of the Howard County Public Library System. Ticket required and will be available 15 minutes before the event starts.

Howard County Crafts Are Fabulous

Friday and Saturday 09.00-17.00, Sunday 09.00-16.00

three days old crafts are amazing It’s the perfect way to start and end your weekend. More than 375 artists will be featured with handmade crafts and toys, home decor, knitting and more.

The free event will take place at the fairgrounds in West Friendship, where magic shows and DJs will perform while you peruse the booths. There will also be free rides to take you back to your car after a long day of shopping.

Encrypted Scanning

Friday 7-8pm

Are you feeling brave? After sunset, head to Robinson Nature Park to take a night forest walk and hear stories of creatures like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. You never know where these legendary cryptids are hiding.

Day of the Dead

Saturday 20.00-10.00

Black Eyed Suzies are playing at Backwater Books on Old Ellicott City’s Main Street to celebrate the Day of the Dead. The night will be filled with traditional murder ballads, a selection of Grateful Dead songs, and some original songs.

There will also be canned cocktails and spirits from Tenth Ward Distilling.

Tickets $21.05and the event is for people 21 and over.

Scrappy Cooking

Saturday 10:30-noon

Never know what to do with leftover food left in your refrigerator? This workshop is just for you. The Community Ecology Institute will guide you on ways to make your food last longer and give you ideas for storing and using your leftover scraps.

You can sample scrap pesto, quick pickle scraps and vinaigrette at the workshop at the Community Ecology Institute’s Freetown Farm in Columbia.

Tickets are $5 The event is for ages 16 and over.

Relaxing Sound Bath

Sunday 15.00-17.00

End your weekend with a relaxing sound bath at Yoga Haven Howard County in Marriottsville. You will listen to the sounds of crystal singing bowls, gongs and other instruments as the vibrations clear your stress and tension.
