16-year-old charged with capital murder in Houston park shooting

HOUSTONA 16-year-old suspect has been charged with capital murder for his alleged involvement in the fatal shootings of a man and another 16-year-old in September.

The boy’s name was not released, but the Houston Police Department said he was arrested without incident on Tuesday.

ORIGINAL STORY: Teen, adult killed in shooting near Bauer Pocket Park

On Sept. 12, officers were called to the scene of shots fired at 2201 Bauer Drive near Bauer Pocket Park off Kerrwood Lane around 1 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 24-year-old Jaquez Moore and 16-year-old Deric Ward dead.

According to HPD, Moore and two males were involved in an argument that escalated to gunfire. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department responded and pronounced both Moore and Ward dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that the cause of the incident was robbery. Further investigation led police to identify Ward and the teen as suspects.
