Floods affected many towns in Spain

Flash floods caused by heavy downpours in eastern Spain on October 29 washed away everything in their path within minutes. People were trapped in vehicles, homes and businesses with no time to react. Many died and the livelihoods of thousands were destroyed.

Three days later, authorities have found 205 bodies, 202 in the eastern Valencia region alone, two in Castilla La Mancha and one in Andalusia, and continue to search for an unknown number of missing people.

While people faced power and water outages and shortages of some basic necessities, debris began to fill the thick layers of mud that covered homes and streets.
