“He took us into the elevator that took the Pope to St. Peter’s Basilica, to his mortuary. He took us to this beautiful little private museum where all the gifts that had been given to the Vatican from around the world were packed in glass cases,” O’Hara said. “And she let us open the box, take out the crowns, and pretend to put them in my husband’s backpack.”
