Gather cooking ingredients

Catch a dead fish. This section can be confusing because it doesn’t highlight or tell you an item you can pick up. The fish doesn’t even disappear as you collect it, but you should get one if you interact with it.

Cook a special meal

Return to Mess Hall. Interact with the cooking pan on the stove. This allows you to add all the ingredients to the pan one by one:
