Canadian national team player Liam Millar’s season is over after an anterior cruciate ligament injury

Hull City and Canada international Liam Millar’s season came to an early end after a serious knee injury.

The club’s manager, Tim Walter, confirmed on Saturday that the 24-year-old suffered an ACL tear against Burnley earlier this week.

“Unfortunately he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligaments so I send him my best wishes,” the German boss told Hull Live.

“He is out of the team for the rest of the season. He will have surgery in three weeks because his knee is swollen and that is not possible at the moment.”

The news was also a huge blow to the country, given Millar’s promising performance under new boss Jesse Marsch.

“This is a big blow to us and to him. He’s very upset. He was crying on the phone when we talked about this and it’s very difficult for me to understand,” Walter added.

“We acted like family. He’s part of our family and hearing this news is really frustrating and makes me really sad.”

Millar made 12 appearances in all competitions for Hull City, scoring one goal and two assists.
