Analyst Wild Recommends New York Knicks and Suns Trade

New York Knicks lost the season opener echoing fashion To the Boston Celtics. The Celtics tied the NBA record with 29 three-pointers, and some are already wondering if the Knicks have trouble on their hands.

As ridiculous as this may sound considering it’s only one game, it’s never too early to start finding ways to potentially improve New York’s roster.

Looks like the Knicks are still I’m trying to make a move even after landing at both Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns shocking transactions During the offseason and Colin Keane of The Sporting News made another great suggestion: Towns to the Phoenix Suns for Devin Booker.

“On New York’s side of the deal, acquiring Booker would finally give the Knicks the offensive wing they’ve been missing forever,” Keane wrote. “Booker and (Jalen) Brunson can complement each other tremendously, and if Mitchell Robinson and the much-improved Jericho Sims struggle to stay healthy, the Knicks could get big-man help for cheap on the free agent market.”

Keane adds that Towns and Booker earn similar salaries, so the money will come in handy.

Honestly, this move would make more sense for the Suns than the Knicks. Towns would provide Phoenix with good offensive balance as he would fit in well alongside Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal.

So will New York take this into account?

The Knicks are weak up front, as they were after losing Robinson (at least) to January and after losing Isaiah Hartenstein to free agency. Trading Towns would leave New York with next to nothing in terms of viable talent in their frontcourt.

Moreover, the Knicks literally just signed Towns and they had been eyeing Towns for years. They won’t turn him down for Booker.

To be fair, Keane lives up to his statement by saying New York could consider such a trade if Towns is a “bad fit,” but the chances of that deal still happening are slim to none.
