Deadly tanker truck crash closed the 110 Freeway for hours

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash on the northbound 110 Freeway at Manchester Boulevard, where a tanker truck overturned and spilled 500 to 1,000 gallons of aviation fuel onto the road, the Los Angeles Fire Department said Sunday.

The accident was reported at 22.55 on Saturday. Authorities said that firefighters who responded to the incident discovered that one person had died under the tanker truck.

Officials told City News Service that the tanker driver was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle and did not interact with firefighters.

The 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The fuel spill was contained by LAFD crews with assistance from Caltrans.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

A SigAlert was issued by the CHP on Saturday around 11:10 p.m. Lanes on the southbound 110 Freeway at Manchester Boulevard were closed until Sunday afternoon.
