Camden County man injured in officer-involved shooting after disobeying law enforcement orders

CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A Camden County man was injured in an officer-involved shooting early Friday morning.

Accordingly Missouri State Highway PatrolAround 2:30 a.m., officers with the Camdenton Police Department and Camden County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in Camdenton in response to a call reporting a person dead at the home.

When police arrived at the scene, 28-year-old Matthew MacDonald came out of the house with a rifle in his hand. Authorities tried to negotiate with MacDonald to give up the gun, but he refused.

A Camden County deputy then shot MacDonald. The detained person was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Authorities confirmed there was no body in the home as initially reported, according to the Highway Patrol.

The investigation is ongoing by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Drug and Crime Control Division.

MacDonald was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action in an unrelated incident earlier this month. Court documents show he also faces several charges in Illinois.
