More than 20 people were injured in a head-on collision between an NJ Transit bus and a wrong-way vehicle in Union, New Jersey

UNION, New Jersey (WABC) — More than 20 people were injured in a head-on collision with a New Jersey Transit bus in Union, New Jersey, on Friday.

Authorities said the accident occurred around 07.20 in the morning.

He said a bus operating on Route 94 was traveling at the intersection of Stuyvesant Boulevard and Stanley Terrace when a BMW traveling in the opposite direction crossed onto the southbound side of Stuyvesant Boulevard and crashed into the path of the bus.

A second bus, also operating on line 94, was behind the accident and had to stop suddenly.

The driver of the BMW was injured and taken to University Hospital.

Meanwhile, more than 20 passengers and the driver on the NJ Transit bus were also taken to nearby hospitals with various injuries, including a broken ankle, facial injuries, neck pain and general trauma, according to police.

There were no life-threatening injuries.

Stuyvesant Boulevard was closed between Stanley Terrace and Pleasant Parkway due to the police investigation.
