Whitney Houston’s ‘I Want to Dance with Somebody’ becomes the most popular wedding song

And the winner is…

According to a recent study from Breezit, an online wedding vendor search tool, the favorite song when getting married goes to the pop song “I Want to Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston.

Houston’s 1987 hit, which appeared on her second studio album, “Whitney,” appeared 484 times in 2,000 wedding-themed Spotify playlists the company populated, containing a total of 49,091 songs.

Playlists included titles like “Wedding dance floor,” “Wedding party,” “Walk Down the Aisle” and “First dance songs” and “I Want to Dance with Somebody,” which won over the late singer known as “The Voice.” It was awarded a Grammy in 1988 and has been featured on more than 24% of marriage-focused compilations.

“Dancing Queen”, a worldwide hit from ABBA’s fourth studio album “Arrival” in 1976, took second place.

The disco classic, which is inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, was found 394 times and appeared on just over 19% of couples’ playlists for their big day.

Third place was taken by Usher’s “Yes!” took the voice. From his fourth studio album “Confessions” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris.

The 2004 song, which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 consecutive weeks, appeared on just over 19% of playlists.
