2024 election results: Harris County election workers complete vote counting at new headquarters in north Houston

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — Election workers in Harris County worked all night to count ballots. Just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, 700 of 700 polling stations had declared their results.

Accuracy and efficiency are their number one goal, officials said.

Votes were counted at the new polling station in north Houston, not far from Bush Intercontinental Airport.

The election in Harris County went generally smoothly this time. During the 2022 midterm elections, votes were still being counted a week after Election Day.

The delay at that time was due to machine problems and personnel shortage. This time these problems were not reported.

In past elections, votes were counted at NRG Park. Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth said the new facility gives workers more space, making them more productive.

“A significant number of those reporters will come directly here to our headquarters. That’s helpful because we’ll have 100 or more vote centers come in, instead of waiting for the other five to come here and do the central count. “That’s going to help us be more time efficient,” Hudspeth said.
