Dhaka court today (November 2) rejected former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder’s bail petition in the case filed for allegedly attempting to kill a businessman during the Student Anti-Discrimination Movement on July 29.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain gave the verdict when the investigating officer (IO) of Md Jahangir Alam’s case appeared in court.

The court also ordered the relevant authorities to provide him with necessary treatment in accordance with prison rules.

In the case file, a total of 184 people, including the former food minister, former transport and bridge minister and Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, were accused of attempting to murder 29-year-old businessman Imrul Kayes Faisal while he was a student. Departure in Mohamamdpur Beribadh area on 29 July.

Faisal filed a case against them at Mohammadpur Police Station on September 26 after receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

On October 3, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested him in the Bashundhara residential area of ​​the city around 8.30 pm.

He was detained for seven days and was sent to prison on October 10 after his detention period.

Later, on October 30, he was brought to the courthouse while he was detained in prison. The court then decided to keep the defendant in custody for 3 days.

He was referred to the courthouse again today regarding the case.
