Nude photos lead to fight and man’s arrest in Boardman | News, Sports, Jobs

BOARDMAN — A local man faces charges after police say he beat his wife during an argument over suggestive photos on her phone.

Ryan Robert Silvas, 31, of Applecrest Drive, is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Boardman Court today after being arrested just after midnight Monday on a charge of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The police report states that when officers arrived at the house, a woman ran out of the house screaming with blood at her mouth. “I can’t keep doing this,” he said when police asked him if Silvas had hit him.

One officer sat next to him while the other knocked on the door. The woman told police she would not go out because she knew the Silvas were there and that there were five guns in the house.

A probation officer arrived to provide backup and knocked on the door again and told Silvas to get out. The report states that after he did not answer again, the police opened the door and announced them. Silvas shouted from the back of the house that he was there and unarmed and told police to see what his wife was doing.

Police saw several broken condiment containers on the floor outside the bathroom, splatters on the floor and wall around the bathroom door, and a large hole in the middle of the door, the report states.

The report states that Silvas told police that they were arguing about nude photos of other women on his phone, so he locked himself in the bathroom. He told police that at one point he hit her in the face and tried to break down the door with a sledgehammer.

The man cut his finger trying to keep her away and her face was red where the woman had probably slapped him, the report states.

The woman told police she couldn’t see because Silvas threw hot sauce in her eyes, and she was treated by paramedics for red eyes. She later told police that after she confronted him about the photos, he told her she was fat and ugly and no one would want her. He then insulted her. He said that at that time, Silvas entered the bathroom, called his father and threatened him.

She said that she punched a hole in the door with a sledgehammer and punched Silvas in the face through the hole while she was holding her babies in her arms.

The report states that police took several photographs of the wounds on his face and mouth.

The woman told police she fainted and didn’t remember tackling Silvas before calling them.

Police responded to a domestic violence call the night before, but the couple told police it was only verbal and no threats were made at the time, the report states.

Silvas was arrested and booked into the Mahoning County jail.

On social media, it appears that the couple got married in August 2023 and have several young children.
