1 dead, 3 injured after 3-car crash on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – One person was killed and two others were injured following a multi-car crash in Columbia Thursday morning.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) said the crash occurred on Garners Ferry Road, approximately four miles south of the city of Columbia.

According to troopers, a 1994 Chevy S10 pickup truck was traveling east on Garners Ferry Road when it slowed to make a U-turn. A 2001 Ford Taurus, also traveling east, rear-ended the truck, pushing the truck into the westbound lane.

After the car was pushed westbound, it was struck by a westbound 2021 Chevy Silverado.

The driver of the Chevy pickup was the only person inside the car and died at the scene, according to SCHP. The driver of the injured Ford Taurus was taken to Prisma Health Richland. Two people injured inside the Chevy Silverado were also taken to Prisma Health Richland.

SCHP continues to investigate the incident.
