Arsenal reject £45m star bid as Arteta ‘fishes’ for Barcelona jewel

According to the club president, Arsenal has rejected Brazilian team Palmeiras’ ambitious offer for Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal have made a good start to the new Premier League season, considering they have faced Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Aston Villa in their first nine matches.

Arsenal They lost just one game but still found themselves five points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City. Mikel Arteta’s side drew 2-2 against second-placed Liverpool at the weekend.

Jesus is yet to score or assist in 11 appearances in all competitions this season, although only four of those have featured since the start.

The Brazilian earned his first Premier League start of the season as Arsenal defeated Southampton 3-1 earlier this month, but was dismissed after failing to impress.

And there were rumors that Jesus could now leave in the January transfer window, with some murmurings that Arsenal might now be over him.

One potential destination was rumored to be Brazilian side Palmeiras Allegations that Arsenal are ready to sell the 27-year-old player.

However, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira claimed a deal would not materialize as Arsenal rejected their approach for the striker.

“Jesus Gabriel is not coming,” Pereira said. “We contacted Arsenal and they said, ‘Leila, there are no conditions’. We will not negotiate with the player. The matter is closed.”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright recently defended Jesus’ performance and thinks Gunners fans should get behind him to find his best form.

“Can I say something about Gabriel Jesus because I feel the need to support him right now,” Wright said on his podcast.

“I’m listening to the murmurs and the attitudes of the fans… please man, support this man, stay with him.

“He wants to be very successful and it’s not happening right now but he needs support, he really needs it.”

Reports in Spain claim Arsenal are ‘currently the biggest threat’ to land Barcelona youngster Arnau Pradas, despite interest from RB Leipzig, PSV Eindhoven, Benfica, Villarreal and Napoli.

Arteta was ‘impressed with Arnau’s abilities and wants to fish at La Masia, so he has contacted Arnau and his family to try to persuade him personally’.
