India Calls Out Canada for Blocking Australian Outlet After Jaishankar Interview

Canada blocked the social media accounts of diaspora media outlet Australia Today shortly after it aired Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s press conference with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong. The publication had shared Jaishankar’s statements regarding the tense India-Canada relationship and included his criticisms of Canada’s attitude towards anti-India elements. Indian MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal expressed surprise at the bloc, calling it hypocritical given Canada’s stance on freedom of expression. Jaishankar also condemned the recent attack on a Hindu temple in Brampton and criticized Canada for allegedly surveilling Indian diplomats, which India sees as a diplomatic violation.
