Man allegedly attacked victim with ax at home in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A man who allegedly attacked another man with an ax at a Jefferson County home was arrested Wednesday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) said deputies were called to a disturbance at a home in the 3400 block of Burnham Drive on Wednesday around 8:45 p.m.

A neighbor called 911 after interacting with a man later identified as 35-year-old Bradley Lindsey, according to the sheriff’s office. JCSO said Lindsey was walking down the street and told her neighbor to “call the police if they heard gunshots.” The neighbor panicked and immediately called the authorities.

Deputies arrived and found Lindsey covered in blood as well as an injured 61-year-old man who needed medical attention. The sheriff’s office said Lindsey claimed he attacked the man with an axe.

The 74-year-old homeowner said he didn’t know Lindsey but let her in when she knocked on the door, according to JCSO. During one conversation, Lindsey allegedly made comments about being “interested” in the 61-year-old man.

The 61-year-old man had been living as a tenant with his 74-year-old landlord for several years, according to the sheriff’s office. JCSO said the landlord is currently in the process of legally evicting the 61-year-old tenant.

The sheriff’s office did not provide details of the relationship between Lindsey and the victim.

The 61-year-old man, who was seriously injured, was discharged after being treated at the hospital. Lindsey was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
