Man arrested Saturday near UNC on charge of assault with a deadly weapon; Source coroner IDs victim – Greeley Tribune

Police arrest the man they say is responsible Fatally shot a 19-year-old Greeley man near the University of Northern Colorado Saturday evening.

Greeley police arrested 19-year-old Marco Antonio Ruiz Villescaz on suspicion of second-degree murder Wednesday evening, according to county arrest records. He is being held in the Weld County Jail on $750,000 bail.

An affidavit regarding his arrest was filed Thursday morning but has since been sealed.

The victim was 19-year-old Jesus Manuel Solis, according to a statement from the Weld County Coroner’s Office.

Ruiz Villescaz is accused of killing Solis around 7 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of 9th Street in Greeley. In a statement released Sunday night, police said they believed the two teenagers knew each other and that this was not a random attack.

Ruiz Villescaz is due back in court Tuesday morning on the warrant, according to Colorado court records.
