Former historic venue for arts and entertainment will reopen its doors next year

PEORIA (25News Now)—The Scottish Rite Theater downtown is now rented by: TempleLiveAn event promotion group based in Arkansas.

It is located in downtown Peoria and was previously owned by the Kim Blickenstaff Group. It closed in 2023.

TempleLive’s Chief Operating Officer Garrett Zimmerman aims to open the venue in March next year and said fans should look forward to a variety of shows there.

“There’s nothing we wouldn’t do,” Zimmerman said. “We do everything from comedy to rock and roll to EDM to hip-hop to country music; there’s nothing we wouldn’t try, and if the market wants it we’ll provide more.”

City Councilman Tim Riggenbach (3rd District) is optimistic about this reopening, saying it will bring more jobs to the river city and calling it a ‘win’ for Peoria.

“We are very positive about what they can offer,” Riggenbach said. “We have not met them face to face, but they have past experience of operating similar facilities in other parts of the country and in different cities. “They clearly know what they are doing and how to market it.”

Councilman Riggenbach also applauded the building’s former owners, Kim Blickenstaff Group, for the renovations carried out in 2019 despite the sudden closure.

The group believes the building is ready to shake.

TempleLive also has locations in Cleveland, Columbus, Fort Smith and Wichita.
