Here’s what’s closed, open and free on Veterans Day

As a thank you to veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. armed forces, dozens of restaurants are offering free meals for Veterans Day. Check out our list of different offers below. Unless stated otherwise, drinks and tips are not included in the price. Most offers are valid on Monday only.

Many restaurants not listed below may have previously offered free meals to veterans. Some of these restaurants still exist and offer discounts for veterans.

Offers valid for dine-in only at participating locations unless otherwise noted and most require proof of service.

Applebee’s: Veterans and active duty military can get a free dinner from Applebee’s special menu. Items include Bacon Cheeseburger and Fiesta Lime Chicken. Applebee’s has served 11.7 million free meals on Veterans Day since 2008.

BIBIBOP Asian Grill: All BIBIBOP Asian Grill outlets will give a free bowl with ID to veterans and active military. Offer valid for dinner only.

Biggby Coffee: Veterans and active duty with military ID can get a free 16 oz. Latte hot/iced/frozen drink on Monday.

Bob Evans: Veterans and active duty with proof of service can receive a free dine-in breakfast entrée, including the Country Biscuit Breakfast or a stack of hot cakes.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active duty military can receive a free order of boneless wings and fries for dine-in service with proof of military service. Customers at Buffalo Wild Wings GO locations can order at the register with proof of service.

California Pizza Kitchen: Veterans and active duty with proof of service can choose from a limited menu.

Chili’s: With proof of service, veterans and active duty members can enjoy a free meal from a menu of four entrees, including Chicken and Ranch Quesadilla and Oldtimer With Cheese. Offer valid for dinner only.

Dave and Buster’s: Active and veterans can choose up to a $20 free entrée and receive a $10 Power Pass on Monday.

Denny’s: Customers with a valid military ID can enjoy a free Grand Slam breakfast at Denny’s from 5 a.m. to noon on Friday morning.

Dunkin: Customers with a valid military ID can receive free donuts for their in-person order.

Golden Corral: The buffet chain is offering current and active-duty military service and free dining reservations at the buffet on Monday starting at 4 p.m.

Hooters: All day Monday, veterans and active-duty service members can choose from five entrees, including Hooters’ Boneless Wings.

I: From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, veterans and active duty members can get a free Red, White and Blueberry Pancake combo.

Little Caesars: The pizza restaurant will serve its Hot-N-Ready four-slice lunch and 20-ounce beverage free to veterans and active military on Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Quest Barbecue: Veterans and active duty can get free sandwiches all day Monday.

Olive Garden: Veterans and active military can choose from a variety of entrees from Olive Garden’s Veterans Day menu.

Country Steakhouse: Outback Steakhouse offers free Bloomin’ Onion and drinks on Monday with a valid military ID.

Red Robin: This burger joint is offering veterans and active duty members a free Red’s Tavern Double Burger and bottomless fries throughout Monday. It is served with meals only.

Starbucks: Veterans, active-duty members and military spouses can get a free 12-ounce cup of coffee all day Monday.

What is open and closed on Monday?

Although many government buildings will be closed, many things will remain open.

Essential government offices, such as the National Weather Service, will remain open. Examples of nonessential offices closed Monday include the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service.
Some schools, universities, and local and state government offices may close.
