Video: Clearwater police save blind, deaf dog from drifting into Gulf of Mexico

Last month, a Clearwater Police Department sergeant came across a dog that had fallen into a canal in Island Estates and was struggling to stay above water.

“I can’t even hear it anymore,” the police officer can be heard saying, while another helps guide him towards the dog.

The officer was able to pull the dog to safety where his grateful owner was waiting.

“He almost drowned there… I don’t know how long he could have lasted there,” the officer said.

After being rescued, the dog can be heard panting as its owner says “Oh my God, Heidi” and pets the soaking wet animal.

The owner continues to praise the officer and thanks him for having a good eye and doing a good job.
