New Windsor man charged with stabbing murder in Newburgh city

GOSHEN – A New Windsor man has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a man to death in the city of Newburgh last month.

Cameron Williams, 25, of New Windsor, was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of second-degree murder, a felony, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler announced.

He is being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1 million cash bail, $3 million fully secured bond or $10 million partially secured bond, pending a Dec. 4 conference in Orange County Court.

According to Hoovler, in documents filed and in court testimony, Williams allegedly took several kitchen knives from a Newburgh home after an argument, approached a man lying on West Parmenter Street, and stabbed him multiple times to death. .

The stabbing took place on October 13 at around 22.45. The victim was not identified by authorities and no motive was given for the stabbing.

An investigation by Newburgh city police identified Williams as a suspect and led to his arrest.

“The alleged acts of violence committed by this defendant are unconscionable,” Hoovler said in a statement released by his office.

Williams’ attorney, Paul Nicholas Weber Jr. did not make any comment.
