Aiken County

Aiken County Public School District officials announced that schools and offices will operate on a two-hour delayed schedule on Thursday, Nov. 7, due to heavy rainfall that caused flooding, inundation and road closures throughout the county.

Due to the delayed start, only lunch will be served in our cafeterias tomorrow. Students on the half-day schedule, including Early Learning Special Education students and others, will not come to school Thursday because buses cannot use midday routes, officials said.

There will be no morning classes at the Aiken County Career Center. Students will go to their high schools with a two-hour delay. According to the district, rainfall is expected throughout the day.

Please be very careful when going to school and work. Authorities’ advice is to please turn back if you encounter flooded roads.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety has closed the following roads:

  • Whiskey Lane from Knox Boulevard to Grace Boulevard
  • Junction of University Park Road and Vaucluse Road
  • Price Boulevard between Whiskey Road and Two Notch

Authorities ask motorists to seek alternative routes and avoid these areas until further notice.

Best Friend Express public transport buses will also be delayed by 2 hours on November 7 due to floods.

Allendale County

Allendale County School District officials announced that all after-school events and activities will be canceled on Thursday, November 7, due to heavy rains expected throughout the afternoon.

Officials request that you make arrangements for your child to be picked up promptly at the normal departure time.

Bamberg County

All Bamberg County Schools will switch to eLearning day on Thursday due to worsening road conditions, officials said.

Students should follow their distance learning plans and log in as directed by their teachers. Additionally, all after-school programs and events are canceled today.

Orangeburg County

Orangeburg County School District officials announced at 8:30 a.m. that all Orangeburg County School District schools will be closed Thursday due to ongoing weather conditions, challenging roads and the condition of some school buildings.

“This decision was made with the safety and well-being of our students and staff as our top priority,” officials said.

Officials first announced around 7 a.m. that all schools in the Orangeburg County School District would operate on a three-hour delay due to heavy rains and difficult road conditions in our area.

Orangeburg County Emergency Operations Center officials said parts of Central and West Orangeburg County experienced flash flooding and many roads were closed.
