Liverpool news: Lee Carsley on Curtis Jones’ England call

England interim boss Lee Carsley said Curtis Jones was a player he “highly rates” after calling up the Liverpool midfielder for the UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland on 14 and 17 November.

The games will be the opportunity to make his England debut for Jones, who was withdrawn from the squad in October and left out of Gareth Southgate’s provisional selection for Euro 2024 after receiving his first call-up of the summer.

“Curtis is a versatile player, plays a variety of positions and is a player I admire very much,” Carsley said after making the announcement. he said.

“He’s going to be one of the best players I’ve ever worked with in terms of his ability. I think he’s played really consistently at a high level every week now, especially most weeks.”

“He has shown that he can score goals and provide assists, he is a player I have had great success working with in the past and I am looking forward to working with him.”
