    IDF announces martyred soldier Sergeant Ariel Sosnov Sasonov – Israel News

    Sergeant Ariel Sosnov, 20, was killed in combat in the North on Tuesday, the IDF said in a statement on Thursday morning.

    Sergeant Sasonov was from Jerusalem and served with the 605th Engineer Battalion, 188th ‘Barak’ Brigade.

    He was posthumously promoted from the rank of Corporal to the rank of Sergeant.

    Additionally, the IDF added that a soldier from the 90th ‘Nahshon’ Battalion of the Kfir Brigade was seriously injured in an unrelated incident during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

    The soldier was taken to hospital for treatment.

    Sergeant Sosnov’s death brings the total number of soldiers killed since October 7 last year to 780, according to the IDF’s tally.
