Detroit Tigers’ Top Target Made ‘Top Priority’ by Current Team

Detroit Tigers Enter the offseason with the goal of aggressively making upgrades that will take the team from an underdog story to legitimate World Series contenders.

An improbable run saw them climb from near double-digit games in late August to become baseball’s hottest team, making the playoffs and eliminating the American League’s perennial powerhouse. Houston Astros.

But things came to an end in the next round. Cleveland Guards in a decisive fifth game.

The way things ended has led to renewed belief that the Tigers are close to exiting this rebuild and potentially a piece or two away from making it a reality.

One area they can upgrade is in phase three.

After both corner infielders lack production in 2024, one of the top free agents available just happens to be playing at the hot corner; Astros third baseman Alex Bregman.

While many We linked Bregman to Detroit and see it this way perfect fitHouston general manager Dana Brown may have thrown some cold water on those dreams this week when he revealed how much of a priority he prioritizes a deal with his team’s superstars and his strong desire to make it happen.

“The biggest priority is undoubtedly phase three,” Brown said via MLB.com. “We would love to have Alex Bregman back. That’s our top priority… I don’t want this to drag on. He knows we want him back. Scott knows we want him back. He loved playing here. So hopefully we can get this done as soon as possible. If it drags on, “It makes it even more difficult. If it takes this long, it’s out of my control. We’ll try our best to make it happen.”

Bregman has been one of the most reliable players in the league, and as of last week, he can now add Gold Glove winner to his resume.

Offers for his services should be getting ready to start coming in, and he’ll have a hefty price tag whether he stays with the Astros or goes elsewhere.

It will be difficult for the Tigers or any other team to acquire the slugging two-time All-Star, especially if his current team prioritizes re-signing him.
