Chris Matthews Speaks Out Against Democrats Across the Border After Loss

Chris Matthews He attacked Democrats for their “terrible decision” on the southern border, citing the issue and the economy as the former President’s justification Donald Trump passed the Vice President Kamala Harris in the election.

“Chris Matthews, you are sitting in your home state of Pennsylvania this morning. A state that Donald Trump won. Not as close as some predicted. Kamala Harris didn’t do what she was supposed to do, even in the suburbs of Philadelphia that are so decisive in this election. How is your morning after taking stock of what happened?” Willie Geist asked Matthews on Wednesday. Morning Joe.

Matthews noted that Trump’s support in red states has increased, but argued that it was Democrats’ handling of the southern border and immigration issues that alienated the party from voters.

“It’s all about immigration and the economy, but immigration has been a terrible decision for Democrats. I don’t know who they think they’re playing when they allow millions of people to cross the border at their own will. They ran to that limit because of their own decision and did nothing about it,” Matthews said. “And a lot of people are very angry about it.”

He added that working people feel “betrayed” and that Democrats are not prioritizing the border. Matthews argued that Democrats are currently responsible for the “open border.”

“They feel like their country is being given away to others and they don’t like that. And I don’t know who liked it. Apparently the Spanish didn’t like it. They want the law to be implemented. So I’m not sure they’re doing anything smart here in terms of opening up an open border. “That’s what it is, an open border,” he said. “And I think it’s a bad decision. I hope they learn from it.”

Matthews said the rhetoric around the economy is another misstep by Democrats. Despite the administration touting economic gains, any positives are overshadowed by the fact that inflation is still impacting consumers’ daily purchases.

Matthews declared that Democrats “don’t know how people think anymore.”

“I think you can talk all you want about lowering inflation rates. What people do is they remember what the price of something is, whether it’s gasoline or anything, cream cheese or anything else. They’ll say, “I remember when it was $2, now it’s $7.” But they remember for the last five years. That’s what people think. “Democrats don’t know how people think anymore,” he said. “They think about their country and they think about the cost of everything.”
