Woman found dead after house fire in Oakland Park; BSO is investigating

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies launched an investigation after they say a woman was found dead following a fire at a home in Oakland Park Tuesday morning.

Around 11:14 a.m., BSO officers received a report of a deceased female at a residence near the 5400 block of Northwest First Avenue, authorities said.

Broward Sheriff’s Office area deputies and the Oakland Park Fire Department arrived on scene and confirmed the woman’s death.

Detectives said a preliminary investigation suggested there may have been a fire inside.

A Local 10 News crew was at the home just before 1:30 p.m., where multiple BSO units, a crime scene van and deputies were stationed under a tree near the residence.

Detectives also confirmed that BSO’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

BSO has not released any additional details about the victim at this time.
