Man repairing truck stuck under hot asphalt

JACKSON, Mississippi (WJW) – Police Jackson, MississippiAn investigation is ongoing after a man died on a construction site.

According to police, 41-year-old Darrell Sheriff was under a dump truck running on a hydraulic line when the tailgate opened and asphalt fell on him.

One Press conference on MondayJackson Police Chief Joseph Wade shared details about what they called a tragic accident.

“There were some people at the scene trying to help him,” Wade said. “They said he tried to fight his way out of his injuries but they were too bad for him to survive.”

The victim was believed to be a private contractor.

Police think it was some kind of malfunction with the dump truck.

“It’s a very scary situation that happened here and what’s unfolding,” Wade said.
