Russia-North Korea association agreement does not envisage military alliance — senior diplomat – Russian Politics and Diplomacy

MOSCOW, 5 November. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, in his statement at the Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee meeting, said that the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between Russia and North Korea neither threatens third countries nor provides for the establishment of a military union.

“It should also be noted that, unlike similar Western agreements, the agreement does not envisage the establishment of a military union and does not threaten any third country,” the senior Russian diplomat said. he said.

According to Rudenko, Russia is making this clear to “all of North Korea’s neighbors, who sometimes, and lately often, express certain concerns.”

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during the Russian President’s visit to Pyongyang in June. The document envisages the development of economic ties, military and technical cooperation between the two countries, as well as the provision of mutual military assistance in case of an attack on one of the parties to the agreement.
