Richard Gere is selling his Connecticut home for $11 million; Moving to Europe with my family

Golden Globe-winning actor Richard Gere has sold his $11 million mansion in New Canaan, Connecticut, and plans to move to Europe.

Gere lived on a 32-decare land with his wife, Spanish journalist Alejandra Silva. The couple married in 2018 and planned to move to Madrid, Spain. As for the house in Connecticut, the couple planned to make it a farmhouse.

According to Vanity Fair, the family, which includes sons Alexander, 5, and James, 4, wanted to live closer to Silva’s family in Spain.

Moving to Spain?

“He’s been very generous in giving me six years to live in my world, so it’s only fair that I give him at least another six years to live in his,” Gere told the magazine.

He added: “It’s a beautiful place, the food is outstanding and the people exude sensitivity and generosity as well as a strong desire to laugh and have fun. So I’m looking forward to going there.”

“It will be great for Alejandra to be closer to her family, lifelong friends and culture. Gere was very generous in giving me six years to live in my world, so it’s only fair that I give him at least another six years to live in his, Gere said, according to the media outlet.

How did Gere and Silva meet?

The love story of Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva began in Positano, Italy, in 2014. The couple, who got married in 2018, often talks about the happiness they experience together with their relatives. As an insider shared to People magazine at the time of their wedding, “They are extraordinarily happy. They are very comfortable with each other, having fun together, and looking forward to their future together.”
