Augusta man arrested after allegedly attempting armed robbery

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – An Augusta man who allegedly attempted multiple armed robberies has been arrested, according to arrest warrants.

36-year-old Gregory Lee Grant Jr. He was arrested on Wednesday.

According to arrest warrants, around 3 p.m. on Oct. 29, Grant allegedly walked up to the victims as they were sitting in the front of a 2024 Nissan Sentra in the 3000 block of Peach Orchard Road.

Grant then pointed a gun at them and demanded they give him the car, Warrants said.

A brief fight ensued in which Grant put one of the victims in a headlock and pointed the gun at her head, according to authorities.

Arrest warrants state the victim’s brother then shot Grant.

That same day, arrest warrants allege Grant approached another victim while he was in his 2020 Nissan Sentra.

According to authorities, Grant pulled out a gun and demanded the victim give him the car.

The victim pulled out his own gun and Grant walked away, warrants state.

Grant is charged with five counts of criminal attempt and one count of possession of a firearm or knife during a crime, according to jail records.

Records show Grant is being held in the Richmond County Detention Center.
