Welcome to Club Cosmo, Davis! Do you have any rituals before going on stage as a presenter?

So many things! Here’s how I go over my script: million times. The funny thing is that I love to improvise and it’s different every time I do it. But it’s nice to acknowledge how I view what I say.

I also always get knots in my stomach when I get anxious, so I make sure I eat right and order a bunch of different types of meals. For example, today I ate half a chicken sandwich and half an order of chicken wings. I couldn’t decide!

The list is so exciting because it’s really fun to see all these trends get recognized. They really make a huge impact. I mean, let’s take the sober tendency for example. This is a great example of something that started very small and literally became a nationwide phenomenon. Today show and Jimmy Fallon…everyone did it. And as a TikToker, it’s really fun to be a part of this world and see a trend grow and evolve.

I am also a Host TikTok Radio on SiriusXMWe talk about these trends every day. I see their rise and fall, so it’s really fascinating to be here tonight and see which ones are rewarded.

I would love to talk about your There are lots of tributes, including your TikTok show What is Poppin’? With Davis! How did the idea for the series come about?

While I was going crazy online in 2020, I started making TikToks and comedy videos. And a company Fallen MediaHe found me through those, called me into a meeting and said, “What are your thoughts on creating some sort of man-on-the-street type of show on TikTok?” I said, “I’m in too.” I admit, I was a freshman in college and didn’t know anything, but I was depressed.

We started with zero followers and during COVID I was told to go there with my mask on and I could get an iPhone. *laughing* So I went out to SoHo in literally freezing 20 degree weather with my mini microphone and tried to do the best I could. I was so excited because I was getting $100 a week and even though I didn’t know if it would actually go anywhere, I knew I had to do my best. But within a month I had 100,000 followers and that took off quickly.

It was truly incredible to see you grow in real time. You’ve been doing the coolest episodes lately, this is actually the perfect segue into your latest Charli XCX interview! What was this experience like from start to finish? What was he like IRL? I need to know everything.

Charli is a queen. I’m obsessed with him and he’s a very, very nice person. The funny thing is, a lot of celebrities have been appearing on the show lately, and it’s great. And so over time you start to notice people’s different tendencies; Some have security, some come with a group of 20 people, and some come alone. It just depends.

However, many understandably don’t want to actually enter the public area of ​​the park because there are too many people and they don’t want potential crowding to distract from the interview. Oh my god, thank you! That area is so fun because it’s like NYU’s campus, there are a lot of people my age there. I’m also obsessed with any place that has happy hour. If I’m going out, I’m a big happy hour guy. For example, why not start at 5 or 6 o’clock when the sun is setting, right? For this reason Bar Pisellino is one of my favourites. I love sitting outside and all the staff there are actually French.

It’s funny you say that because one of my best friend’s girlfriends works there and she’s French, so the rumors are true.

The rumors are true! OK, here we go. They also have the best Aperol spritzes ever. Oh, and another place NewsBar Cafe. When I first moved to New York in freshman year, I started going there every day to do my homework. And now I go there all the time just for lunch with my friends. Just kept visiting and love seeing the staff. Plus I have a points card now so I save my points. *laughing*

I love this! On the subject of cafes and Aperol spritzes, if you were a trendy drink, what would you be?

An espresso martini. I’ll take all the energy in the world no matter what. I’ll take it, I’ll take the IV, whatever. I love having caffeine.

Many people. Obviously someone I take as an example Ryan Seacrest—he is the best. I really respect him, especially from the moment I first started hosting. But in terms of other creators, I think Amelia Dimoldenberg has to be one of them. I love it.

Definitely! The reason I found him so inspiring was that he actually started his show 10 years ago and I didn’t know it. It has just completed its 10th anniversary. I remember seeing this and thinking: Wow, been at this for a while. And of course in this industry you’re always comparing yourself to others and everyone wants to be at the top of their field. But seeing his work ethic and never giving up inspires me so much.

In the same vein as the inspirations, if you had to recommend brands, creators and trends that will be on our radar for the Club Cosmo list in 2025, what would they be?

Chappell (Roan). He definitely deserves the lead role award. I’m really interested in Gap these days. I think they’ve really improved and I like their basics. I just received a large order from them and told my friend I literally smiled when I wore their plain white t-shirt. I suddenly remembered my childhood because I grew up going to Gap, and this is something else.

Speaking of your younger self, if you could give bb Davis advice when you were first starting out on social media, what would it be?

I would say: “Follow your instinct. And even if everyone laughs at you (including your friends from high school), keep going because eventually they’ll think what you’re doing is pretty cool. And in the end, what you are after is what is your purpose.”

For a long time I was very confused about what I wanted to do. I didn’t know if I wanted to do more comedy or sharing and stuff like that, but I really just trusted my gut on everything and I feel like that’s what got me to this point.
