Pfeiffer Men’s Cross Country wins first USA South title

The Pfeiffer University men’s cross country team captured its first USA South title and second conference title in program history Saturday morning in Rocky Mount.
Pfeiffer placed seven runners in the top 10 en route to dethroning three-time defending champion Southern Virginia, which finished 19 points behind the Falcons.
Sawyer Helms finished second to Pfeiffer with a time of 25:42, just ahead of teammate Cannon Powell, who finished third with a time of 25:53. Camden Misenheimer finished fifth with a time of 27:02.
Freshman Bricen Burleson received the USA Southern Rookie of the Year Award by finishing the race in sixth place with a time of 27:17. Cole Huggins (7th), Landon Cromer (9th) and Ezequiel Cannas (10th) also finished in the top 10.
Kohen Johnson and Ethan Witte also earned All-Conference honorable mention honors for the Falcons, finishing 12th and 13th, respectively.
Additionally, head coach Bob Marchinko was named US South Coach of the Year, the second and first USA South Award of his career.
Sawyer Helms, Cannon Powell and Camden Misenheimer were named First Team All-Conference; Bricen Burleson, Landon Cromer and Ezequiel Cannas were named All-Conference Second Team.
