Mansfield City Council moved down one floor for meetings

MANSFIELD — If you want to attend the Mansfield City Council meeting, do not come to the council chambers on Tuesday.

Because the City Council does not meet on Election Day, it will not be on Tuesday, instead choosing to meet on Wednesdays that week.

This work is expected to take more than six months, meaning the local MPs need a new temporary home. The council will now meet in Mansfield Municipal Court 1, Judge Michael Kemerer’s primary home.

Residents who want to participate must park in the upper City Hall lot off Park Avenue and enter through the doors on the second floor of the nine-story building, according to City Clerk Delaine Weiner. He said the elevator on the first floor would be locked.

Council meetings will not be livestreamed during the construction period, the clerk said.

“We apologize for this inconvenience. Everyone is invited to come and watch in person if you are able,” Weiner said.

Wednesday’s meeting will begin with the finance committee meeting at 18.35 and the economic development committee meeting at 18.50. The council meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., followed immediately by the legislative session.

Public participation normally takes place at the beginning of legislative sessions. Residents are limited to three minutes.

Lawmakers are expected to debate and/or vote on 12 bills during the meeting, including:

– Acceptance of a $250 donation from the Buckeye Garden Club to be used for landscaping restoration as part of the Sterkel Park for All project.

– Acceptance of a $28,178 grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety for the Mansfield Police Department’s impaired driver enforcement program and selective traffic enforcement program. There is no need for local matching.

– the establishment of standing committees for the council, with At-General Councilor Shari Robertson replacing Stephanie Zader on the council. Under the plan, Robertson will chair the public works committee and also serve on the claims, finance/audit, airport and economic development committees.

– Acceptance of a $250,000 grant from the Richland County Foundation for the city’s downtown development incentive program, which encourages the redevelopment of existing downtown structures. No match is required for the grant.

– authorizing the expenditure of up to $250,000 from these grant funds to KNVW Unlimited Enterprises for the redevelopment of 175 N. Mulberry St. for a phase one renovation of the building to create senior residential living spaces.

– Mansfield Rotary Club of Richland County Foundation – Acceptance of a $21,000 grant from the Tom Doty Community Fund for use on the Prospect Park pavilion construction project.

– Acceptance of a $13,450 grant from the Rotary Club of Mansfield for use in the Prospect Park pavilion construction project.

— acceptance of a $1,500 grant from Global Energy Partners LLC to be used for materials in city parks.

— Acceptance of a $1,680 grant from Edge Plastics for youth jerseys used in city parks and the recreational flag football program.

– Approval of a community reinvestment area agreement with BP Industrial LLC and W. William Schmidt & Associates for the construction of a new 6,000-square-foot building at the 241 Mansfield Industrial Parkway property.

– Approval of community reinvestment area agreement with Airport West II, LLC for a new $13 million, 150,000-square-foot industrial building planned on the Airport West highway property. The building, which can be expanded to 300,000 square meters, can be rented and/or purchased by industrial warehouse customers.

– Appropriating $375,000 from the unallocated safety services fund to the fire capital equipment fund, based on actual and expected EMS revenue through December 31, 2024.
