Former Illini Kerby Joseph Scores Pick-Six Goals Against Green Bay

With the Detroit Lions holding a 10-3 lead over the Green Bay Packers with less than a minute left until halftime in Sunday afternoon’s game, the visiting Lions were hoping to get another stop after holding the Packers to halftime. Score at Lambeau Field.

Just like with the NFC North-leading Lions throughout the season, linebacker Kerby Joseph arrived at just the right time.

On second down and second down at the Packers’ 38, Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love was forced to back off a Detroit blitz. Wanting to avoid a sack and hoping running back Josh Jacobs could turn a short completion upfield into a solid gain, Love aimed and fired — but was never able to connect.

That’s because Joseph, a former Illini, was already in the backfield, coming out of his safe spot and pulling it untouched the other way for a score.

With his sixth pick-six of the season — yep, you see what we did there — Joseph now shares the NFL lead in interceptions.

In the match to determine the group leader, Joseph broke the game and increased the Lions’ lead to 17-3 and they took the break.

Love, who started the match in doubt due to a groin injury, is expected to return to the field in the second half, although he appeared to be limping in the first half.
