84-year-old man killed in fatal Davenport car crash: PCSO

An elderly man died in a traffic accident in the Four Corners region. Davenport Sunday morning, officials say.

Poland The County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said an 84-year-old man was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Osceola County but died during emergency surgery after suffering blunt force trauma and internal injuries from the collision.

Deputies said an investigation of the crash scene determined that a 2021 Ford EcoSport SUV struck a 27-year-old man who was driving a 2018 Mazda sedan and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound U.S. 27.

The man driving the Mazda was treated at the scene and did not suffer any serious injuries.

According to witnesses, the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. when the Ford attempted to make a left turn onto Poitras Two Road in northeastern Polk County.

Officials say this caused a three-and-a-half-hour closure of the southbound lanes of US 27.

The crash remains an open investigation, but deputies investigating the crash believe both men were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
