Rochdale: Off-duty police officer arrested over ‘life-threatening’ crash

An off-duty police officer has been arrested in connection with a crash that left a pedestrian with “life-threatening” injuries, police said.

Manchester Police said the 42-year-old man remained in hospital after being hit by three cars while trying to cross Yorkshire Street in Rochdale at around 23:00 GMT on Friday.

The force has confirmed that one of its current duty officers has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Officers said another man was also arrested and both were released on bail pending further investigation.
