Lenexa police ID victims killed in shootout while suspect awaits trial

LENEXA, Kan. (KCTV) – Police have released the identities of two adults found dead inside a building. Lenexa home page Early Saturday morning.

Investigators responded to a call about someone with a gun in a neighborhood near West 79th Street and Mullen Road around 8:30 Friday evening.

A specialized member Lenexa law enforcement officers entered a house in the neighborhood around 01:50 on Saturday.

Police found the bodies of 52-year-old Sheila M. Donovan and 22-year-old Tyler K. Donovan inside the home. Both victims lived in Lenexa.

Emergency responders also found 53-year-old Todd M. Donovan suffering from an overdose. Doctors treated him in the hospital.

Todd Donovan is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Police said the victims were members of Donovan’s family.

Investigators said they do not know what the motive of the crime was, but the incident remains under investigation.

Donovan remained in police custody at the hospital as of Saturday night. He is scheduled to make his first appearance on Monday, Nov. 4, according to court records.
