The New England Patriots had some fun against the New York Yankees on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers used the Patriots’ team plane to fly home after defeating the Yankees in the 2024 World Series.

New England called out New York in a post on X, referencing Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz’s celebratory call after the Yankees’ loss.

The Dodgers used New England’s plane because they turned to the company that rents the Patriots’ planes when not in use by the team. Matt Geagan From CBS News.

The rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox is extremely well known; Tensions were high, especially after Ortiz’s arrival in Boston before the 2003 season. During his 14 years with the organization, Boston and New York combined to win the American League East 10 times.

The Patriots share a division with the New York Jets but also have history with the Giants. Both teams faced each other in Super Bowl 42 and Super Bowl 46, and New York won both games.

Even though Boston misses the postseason in 2024 with an 81-81 record, it’s not hard to imagine Red Sox fans and Patriots fans rooting for the Dodgers to knock off the Yankees in the Fall Classic.

Los Angeles defeated New York in five games to win the final contest at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman was named the World Series MVP, capping off an incredible performance highlighted by a grand slam in Game 1.

Los Angeles captured its eighth title and first since 2020. Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani also won the first championship of his career in his first year with the organization.

The Patriots will return to their home plane on a short two-game road trip, starting with a game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. New England has just a 2-6 record this season, but the team ended its six-game losing streak by beating the Jets in Week 8.
